FASHION IS MORE THAN A FABRIC!
Consider the possibility that your hair color and the clothes you wear are there to do more than just make you look good. Mark Twain said it best, “Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.”
I have been a transformation expert in the beauty business for almost 25 years now, and if there’s one thing I know, men and women are the only creatures who create an outward style that represents the inward thoughts of themselves. When you stop to think about it, we can tell a lot about as person based on their appearance.
There’s more to fashion than just picking out an outfit to go with your hair.
Your closest isn’t just a box of fabric, but the doorway to creativity allowing you to express who you are. Your appearance heightens your quality of life.
Basically, fashion opens the universe around you, allowing you to become the best version of yourself, and share it with the world. It’s as fascinating as it sounds, and when you consider all the ways people use fashion to represent their style: popularity, religion, and culture, they’ve come a long way since Adam and Eve clothed themselves with fig leaves.
It’s a combination of personality and career, perhaps, styling yourself to hide your flaws or enhance your greatest features. Appearance isn’t about an outward look as much as it’s about the way you see yourself. The fashion you choose for yourself is a creative energy that collaborates with your internal thoughts to figure out what you like and dislike about yourself -- Visually, you come up with a concept and use fashion to articulate that thought.
All of the beliefs you have about yourself, not just your “fortunate” ones, materialize on a physical level because of the way you think of yourself. When you look in the mirror, what does your inner self say about who it sees?
Here’s my “must-have” items of the season and what everyone should “wear.”
First impressions
We often observe a person before we speak to them. Being human, we look to make sense of who they are based on what our eyes show us. But, it’s important to make a good first impression using the words you speak: We pick up on key characteristics about a person based on the words they use to describe themselves. This conversation allows people to get to know you within seconds of your first meeting. Make sure your “words” describe who you are and send the message you want.
Visual cues
Studies show that the clothes you choose to wear make up 90 percent of how you are perceived. I cannot stress enough how important of a role your appearance plays in your everyday life. Want faster service at a restaurant? Look like you have money? Want to increase your chances for an A on a college presentation? Wear a navy blazer. Want instant credibility in a business environment? Wear a suit. Want unwanted attention from men who see women as an object of sex? Wear a low-cut top and short skirt. Visual communication is how you see yourself and demonstrates visually how others perceive you.
Grooming
Your personal hygiene is your personal space. It’s important to care for your hands, feet, teeth, hair, and body in your everyday life. All of your relationships with those around you are directly affected by the way you care for yourself. When you understand this, it’s much easier to respect and communicate with others. Always remember, your inner self keeps the physical body alive and looks to the mind for an assessment of the body’s condition. Your physical needs are important, so take care of you, first.
Hair Color
Your feelings about color are usually deeply rooted in your childhood experiences or culture. Color is a universal, non-verbal language, and we all speak it. The hair color you wear creates a physical and emotional nourishment to your well-being. Your hair color represents your physical style. This means you are in control of how happy and healthy you look. Make sure your hairstylist understands fashion and can create a color to match your personality.
Dress your truth
The inner disposition of your heart should be the beauty you clothe yourself with. What’s precious in the sight of people is confidence. People like people who believe in themselves. It’s an imperishable character trait that no one can take away from you. If you want to stand out in the crowd, be true to who you are. Wear what you can afford. Wear what you find interesting. Wear what makes you comfortable. Wear what you think looks flattering on you. Expectations go a long way, so there’s nothing wrong with being true to you.
